For some, tinkering with a new gun is half the fun of purchasing it. They enjoy installing various upgrades and accessories until they have it perfectly configured. Others, on the other hand, prefer their guns to be exactly as they want them, right out of the box. The Smith & Wesson M&P9 M2.0 OR Pistol included in the new Spec Series Kit falls squarely into the latter category.

The M&P9 M2.0 OR Pistol, which looks like something out of a Tom Clancy game, was designed to be suppressed. Given the included upgrades, it seems wrong not to put a can on this gun. This kit comes with a fixed blade M&P knife, a S&W Spec Series challenge coin, and a custom-fitted carry case.

The Pistol

The M&P9 M2.0 OR Pistol is included in the Spec Series Kit. That’s a mouthful, but it refers to a 9mm, second-generation Smith & Wesson M&P with an optics-ready slide. As the newer 2.0 model, it has a better trigger and other improvements over the original M&P. New Smith & Wesson M&P Spec Series Kit

The FDE slide has been cut to accommodate optics, and the pistol comes standard with a Crimson Trace CTS-1500 red dot sight. The pistol also comes with suppressor height night sights, so it’s suppressor ready right out of the box.

The Knife

An M&P full tang fixed blade boot knife is included with the Spec Series Kit. It has a 4.5-inch-long, single-edged, spear-point blade and an overall length of 9 inches. The rubber handle is marked M&P and is FDE in color, just like the slide of the included M&P pistol. A nylon sheath is also included for storing the knife inside one’s boot.

The Spec Series Kit is obviously appealing to Smith & Wesson collectors and people who simply enjoy fancy guns in fancy packages, but the included pistol also has some very functional design features. The pistol is factory configured for suppressor and optics use, making it an excellent choice for a home defense weapon, especially if you’re already familiar with the M&P platform. The MSRP of the Spec Series Kit is $969, and it comes with Smith & Wesson’s lifetime service policy.
